Commissioned by the Midlands Net Zero Hub and delivered by Dynamon, this report provides the first national assessment of the charging infrastructure, grid upgrades, and investment required to support police fleet electrification across the UK. The study draws on telematics-led analysis, force-level assessments, and national modelling to understand the scale of the challenge facing policing and the wider energy system.
The report estimates that electrifying UK police fleets will require approximately 18,285 charge points across more than 2,000 police sites, representing an infrastructure investment of around £1.4 billion. One of the most significant findings is that grid reinforcement and electrical upgrades account for the majority of costs, approximately 83% of the total investment requirement, highlighting the critical role of electricity network planning in fleet decarbonisation.
