This guide outlines key benefits and considerations you may wish to draw from when developing your own proposals covering several types of decarbonisation projects. It also provides an overview of the processes that you may need to navigate to obtain project sign-off and how the strength of business cases can be improved to give the best chance of success. Sections 2 to 5 of this guide can be used to provide text for your own business cases.

When making the case for greenhouse gas emissions (or emissions) reductions, particularly for large spend projects, it can often be helpful to start from first principles and briefly explain the strategic context.
