The Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) programme trialled innovative approaches for delivering retrofit advice to hard-to-reach groups and hard-to-treat homes. This resource provides a summary of insights into one of the methods trialled by the South West Net Zero Hub within one or several of its six projects.

Not-Yet-Green Open Homes: How the method works

Green Open Homes events allow people to visit local homes and hear real-life retrofit stories, seeing measures in place without sales pressure. Typically run by community groups, events range from small gatherings to large showcases involving up to 50 homes. Not-Yet-Green Open Homes focus on traditional or partially retrofitted buildings, with expert-led tours highlighting retrofit opportunities and common issues. These events often include a public information session and are promoted with community partners. They help demystify retrofit, offering practical insights and fostering peer learning in a relaxed, accessible setting.
