This guidance is aimed at local authorities, their officers and consultants who are considering implementing and deploying Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. It is intended to provide an overview of the issues, opportunities and challenges that should be considered as part of the decision process. It is not detailed guidance and is not intended to guide you through the detailed design and implementation of a scheme but will provide an insight to allow you to form policy and plan for future delivery.
Throughout this document, we have provided links to more detailed guidance and standards that should be referred to as your plans become more mature. This guide is written for practitioners who are familiar with installing infrastructure on the highway and understand local authority corporate procedures, but do not have experience of installing EV Charging.
