As the UK strives to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, local authorities play a vital role in shaping and delivering local decarbonisation plans, such as Local Area Energy Plans (LAEPs). These plans are key to creating sustainable communities. However, many local authorities and organisations working with local authorities face challenges in terms of cost, resources, time, and expertise to create or update a comprehensive plan such as a LAEP.

When it comes to delivering Net Zero impact, knowing what the current energy landscape looks like in a region is difficult to determine due to the breadth of disparate data sources that are not in standardised formats for integration with multiple licensing conditions to navigate. This leads to a need to manually collect and process data to make it usable before decisions can be made, an exercise that can be costly in both time and resource.

Energy Systems Catapult’s Baseline Bundle simplifies the process and accelerates progress by consolidating essential data from various open and commercial sources, as well as combining these with several of the Catapult’s Net Zero Data datasets into a single comprehensive bundle providing a consistent output of commonly required information to enable, kick-start, and support decarbonisation project planning and reporting in a way that aligns with the Catapult’s Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP) guidance.
